In a new video shared on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, she said fear of losing her husband and financial dependence influenced her earlier response.
The woman, whose name has not been publicly disclosed, first defended Ogbonna last week after the Delta State Police Command arrested him over allegations connected to Favour’s death. In that earlier video, she admitted that her husband had an affair with Favour but rejected the rape allegation, saying she knew her husband and would continue to stand by him despite the public pressure.
She has now taken a different approach to the public backlash. The mother of four apologised to women who felt offended by her decision to appear publicly in support of her husband and said she should not have involved herself in the controversy in the manner she did. She also expressed regret over showing her face and those of her children during the earlier video.
According to her latest account, her decision came from a position of vulnerability within the marriage. She said she had spent eight years as a full-time housewife without an independent income, business or professional skills, while Ogbonna provided for her, their four children and, according to her, even her parents. That financial dependence contributed to her fear about what might happen if she failed to support him publicly.
She also said she feared that Ogbonna could reject or abandon her if he came out of the controversy and believed she had not supported him. That fear, she explained, affected the way she initially responded to the allegations.
