Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has stirred debate online after claiming that the cost of living in Nigeria is better than in many countries, including the United Kingdom.
According to a viral video shared by Tribune Online, Omokri said basic services and housing in London now cost far more than what Nigerians pay locally.

Speaking in the clip, Omokri compared grooming expenses and accommodation costs in London to living conditions in Nigeria.
“Shaving costs £40 in London. A one-bedroom flat costs about £2,500 monthly,” he said.
He further argued that many Nigerians often overlook the economic realities abroad while constantly criticising living conditions at home.
The comment quickly triggered mixed reactions across X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, with many users accusing him of downplaying the economic hardship currently faced by Nigerians. Others, however, agreed that several Western countries are also struggling with rising inflation and expensive living costs.

Comparing the cost of fuel and shaving in Nigeria to the cost of fuel in the Uk is not a smart thinking. Minimum wage in Nigeria is 70k £35) per month, Minimum wage in Uk is £2500 (5 million) per month. Please what's the sense in that?… pic.twitter.com/3BsismymOj
According to another report by Tribune Online, Omokri recently claimed petrol now sells for nearly three times more in England than in Nigeria, blaming the increase on global tensions in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, clips from the interview have continued circulating online, pushing the topic into trending discussions within the last few hours.
As at the time of filing this report, neither the Nigerian government nor UK officials had reacted officially to the debate generated by the viral statement.
