Nigerian socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest has explained why he stopped supporting Peter Obi and decided to back President Bola Tinubu, a statement that has triggered fresh reactions online within the last few hours.

According to a report by Kemi Filani, the celebrity barman made the remarks during a live session with popular TikToker Peller while addressing his recent political loss and public criticism.

Speaking during the livestream, Cubana Chief Priest said he no longer wanted to “keep losing,” adding that his decision to support Tinubu was based on political calculations and alignment.
“I don’t see him winning and I don’t want to keep losing,” he said during the livestream.
“Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am and because I worked for Peter Obi at the last election but I chose Tinubu now because I don’t want to lose again. Make Tinubu just do his 8 years Dey go cos nobody can move him from there. Peller, Make sure you vote Tinubu… pic.twitter.com/f3KFOZXaJn

According to him, his earlier support for Peter Obi during the 2023 elections was influenced by ethnic sentiment and his desire to identify with the Igbo movement at the time.
The socialite has, in recent months, openly aligned himself with Tinubu and the APC-led “City Boy Movement,” appearing at several political gatherings and campaigns linked to the president and his allies.

Meanwhile, the comments have stirred mixed reactions across X, Facebook and Instagram, with supporters and critics debating his political switch. Some users accused him of chasing political relevance, while others defended his right to support any candidate of his choice.
The development has continued to dominate Nigerian celebrity news and trending celebrity gossip conversations online, especially among supporters of both political camps.
As at the time of filing this report, neither Peter Obi nor his media team had publicly reacted to Cubana Chief Priest’s latest comments.
