In a significant crackdown on illicit drug activities, the Anambra State Police Command arrested six individuals, including a female suspect, in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area. The operation, carried out by the Special Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector, on May 30, 2025, led to the recovery of substantial quantities of dried leaves suspected to be hard drugs and other incriminating substances

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed concern over the increasing involvement of youths in drug-related activities, stating, “Drugs are the oxygen that drives most crimes and bad behavior exhibited by individuals.” He emphasized the need for intensified advocacy against illicit drugs through initiatives like the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), aimed at sensitizing youths on the dangers of drug abuse.
