The operation, carried out by the Special Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector, on May 30, 2025, led to the recovery of substantial quantities of dried leaves suspected to be hard drugs and other incriminating substances

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Chidiebere Onyeze (30)

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed concern over the increasing involvement of youths in drug-related activities, stating, “Drugs are the oxygen that drives most crimes and bad behavior exhibited by individuals.” He emphasized the need for intensified advocacy against illicit drugs through initiatives like the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), aimed at sensitizing youths on the dangers of drug abuse.

All suspects are to be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Awka, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
