Osun State Retirees Demand Court-Mandated Minimum Wage Implementation

Retired public servants in Osun State, under the Forum of 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants, are demanding that Governor Ademola Adeleke comply with a court ruling for an N18,000 minimum wage. Despite being blocked from the governor’s office during a protest, they vowed to keep pressing their cause. Read more at The Punch.

The retirees, led by Yemi Lawal, lament being paid merely N9,000 instead of the N18,000 mandated by a 2017 court ruling. Years of appeals dismissed in February 2024 have not prompted government action. They criticised a recent N25,000 relief payment as inadequate, urging authorities to ensure the state complies.
