The Ime-obi of Ohanaeze Ndigbo decided that Imo State delegates can elect a new President-General for the revered Igbo sociopolitical group. This decision was made because the position has been vacant since Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s passing on July 25, 2024. The meeting, held in Enugu State, permits Imo State to complete its remaining tenure, ending on January 10, 2025. A communiqué highlighted the need for constitutional adherence in selecting the next leader, who will hail from Rivers State. Ohanaeze’s Election and Screening committees fall under NEC’s responsibilities. Source.
