Sharing Is Caring:

Israeli Air Strikes in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of 12 guards protecting aid lorries, as reported by local medics and Gaza’s Hamas-run Civil Defence. The strikes took place in Rafah and Khan Younis, where attacks have been frequent as aid deliveries face violent theft attempts. In Rafah, seven guards were killed while protecting flour deliveries, while an attack in Khan Younis left five more dead. Injuries to around 30 people, including children, were also reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated the operations targeted "armed Hamas terrorists" planning to hijack aid. This action aligns with Israel’s campaign against Hamas following their October 2023 attack on southern Israel. UN workers highlight ongoing challenges in safely delivering aid. Hamas reports 700 police deaths since October while Israeli strikes elsewhere claimed 21 more lives. Though efforts for a ceasefire remain stalled, potential progress is noted in discussions for hostage release.
