Meta Platforms is set to launch a new Instagram feature enabling Nigerian creators to monetise their content. Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, Meta’s Global Affairs head, Sir Nick Clegg, announced this upcoming feature, slated for June 2024. It aims to help local creators earn from their Instagram videos by using tools such as badges, bonuses, branded content, gifts, and subscriptions. However, to receive payouts, only business and creator accounts meeting Instagram’s partner policies are eligible. Payments are issued monthly, with a minimum earning threshold of $100. This move aims to boost Nigeria’s digital economy and offer creators wider global reach.
