Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading the final National Economic Council meeting of 2024 in Abuja. It started at 11:30 am with many governors present, including those from Cross River, Imo, and Gombe. Some states are represented by deputies. In the previous meeting in November, three states didn’t submit recommendations for state police, a topic likely to be discussed today. Governors will be briefed on President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda, including the tax reform bill and the 2025 fiscal plan. Several states have already submitted their budget proposals for 2025.
